Mytach Tested at PFi and Whilton

I can't beleive this watch can do everything a Mychron 4 with GPS can do....  well almost except the Mytach doesn't log your RPM, but since everyone already has a Mychron or Alfano, then it doesn't  matter all that much.  If all you want to do is in depth analysis of your driving, including braking points, apex points, exit speeds and apex speed, this this Mytach handles it easily.  Best of all it is way cheaper than regular data systems.

Because the MyTach is built by AiM the data from the Mytach works perfectly well with the Race Studio Analysis software.  That means all the tutorials on this site are valid for the Mytach, and you'll get exactly the same type of data as you are used to.  Here is a speed trace and latitudinal G trace for two laps at PFi overlayed from Mytach Data.

So, you can see the data is represented in exactly the same way as the usual Aim data systems.  I've been able to produce a track map immediately which has automatically divide the track into 16 sectors to allow deep analysis of split times.

Here is a couple of GPS overhead views of Whilton Mill and PFi, so you can see how consistent the GPS lines produced are.

In terms of ease of use, well compared to messing around with batteries and bolting bits and bobs all over your kart using the Mytach is a peice of cake.  to download data you clip the watch to a USB docking station which also charges the watch and thats it.  The watch is designed to log for hours too so there's never a worry about batteries running out.

So, for anyone thinking of investing in data logging gear, this GPS watch is a no brainer.
